Just like with people, fresh, high-quality food can truly make a difference in the health – and lives – of animals. We’re Kim Mauzy and Teresa Chisum, the local owners and operators of Pet Wants Chisholm Trail, and we opened this business because we wanted to educate the community about the importance of nutritious pet food and then provide a better, more convenient pet food option.
At Pet Wants we offer our carefully developed proprietary pet food, which is slow-cooked in small batches with fresh, all-natural ingredients once per month, so every kibble is guaranteed to be fresh and packed with nutrition. We also only source the best salmon, chicken, lamb, brown rice, and other ingredients available. There’s no gluten, no added sugar, no fillers, and no animal by-products and Pet Wants never uses corn, wheat, soy, or dyes, which means the food is great for animals with allergies. We also offer homemade beef jerky, balms, and salves for pets. Pet Wants Chisholm Trail is a mobile business and we offer free, personal delivery to Parker County, Tarrant County, and the surrounding areas.
We’ve always had animals and, more recently, we had a dog with kidney failure at age 12 and then another one with kidney failure at age 4. We didn’t want to go down that path again, so we started paying attention to what we were feeding them and the nutritional value of their food and trying new options. With high quality food, the dog who had kidney failure at age 4 lived another two years and was doing great until her very last day. We saw what good food can do first hand. Our six dogs – Gizmo, Shelby, Tara, Bailey, Riley, and Juno – are on Pet Wants and they are healthier than ever. We truly believe in Pet Wants and the power of good nutrition.
Kim grew up in Fort Worth and Teresa has lived in Aledo for more than 20 years. We both are involved in the community through Aledo United Methodist Church and we’re looking forward to making an even bigger positive impact on our community through Pet Wants.
